Purchased from an actual Osogbo master drummer and rubbed with healing tukula powder, this Shango dance wand displays the classic style of the region. Here, as in other parts of Yorubaland, the dun dun or talking drum player leads the musicians who accompany Shango dancers. A sharp strike on the dun dun produces an ear splitting clap that resonates like the thunder and lightning Shango slings to earth. In the center of the double thunder celts atop this piece, a finely carved head distinguishes the work with its well worn handle.
